Kind Words

My clients are my extended family…without them, I would not be able to do what I love every day! I am so incredibly thankful and eternally grateful to every single one of them! ~ Felicity

Last year, my husband and I were planning a trip to the Dominican Republic, but did not want to go to the usual resorts.  Felicity created some impressive and valuable information packages for us.  They denoted condo rentals and their amenities, airline and airport information, stores and restaurants in the vicinity.  Her input and knowledge of the area were priceless.  She helps everyone as if she were planning her own trip – with her whole heart and soul.  Thank you, Felicity! ~ Beatriz & Glen B.

A few years ago, I organized a non-profit charity that did some work in different areas of the Dominican Republic. We needed to have a trustworthy driver to transport us around.  Felicity put us in contact with Rene, who was fantastic.

She also put together a thorough and very helpful information booklet to assist us in the Sosua area.  It consisted of contacts for local resorts, restaurants, and different charity organizations.  This information was invaluable and helped make our program successful.  We are still connected with many of the charities and the locals that Felicity helped us with.  She is incredibly knowledgeable and having been there herself many times, was able to speak from first-hand experience. If you want a great trip, have Felicity organize it! ~ Marcus Bernard

I will never forget when Felicity kindly booked a vacation to an Eco-Resort, Blau Natura Beach, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for my child and I.  She quickly researched and found a resort within my price range that was all-inclusive.  Having never been to the Dominican Republic, I had concerns about transportation and activities for children at the resort.  Felicity quickly found a resort that was family-friendly and inquired about the kid’s club for my child.  My child and I made it safely there and enjoyed the beautiful beaches.

Sadly, the kid’s club was underwhelming with a disengaged employee and did not match the marketing on the website.   As part of my travel safety plan as a single mother travelling with my child, I arranged to keep in touch with Felicity throughout my stay to ensure our safety.  Unfortunately, there was a problem with the phone lines, my hotel room phone would not accept any phone calls; only outgoing calls worked. I informed the front desk staff about the situation and was given conflicting and evasive reasons why the phone did not work.  At the end of my stay, I was given a hefty phone bill.  Felicity went above and beyond for me by ensuring that the resort cancelled all of the phone charges seeing that my resort phone line did not accept any calls for the duration of my stay, and I was not given an alternative phone to use.

I am very grateful to Felicity for her support throughout this trip and for helping us through the bumps to make the best out of our trip.  I would recommend Felicity to anyone and everyone because she is thorough, empathetic, attentive to her client’s needs, and an intelligent problem solver.  She goes above and beyond for her clients.  ~ Peta-Gaye Ebanks

Prior to her becoming a Travel Consultant, Felicity assisted me with finding some resort options that suited me and my senior travel companion.  We needed somewhere that could accommodate our needs, including mobility issues and food quality.  Felicity did a great job, and we had a lovely time in Cuba.  She is amazing. ~ F. Pazo

For the past five years my mom Sabitri goes away during the winter months to her birth country. On February 3/2020, she left for a 3 month vacation where she would enjoy the nice hot weather. We first heard about the coronavirus in China but never thought it would affect the whole world and including the shutting down of the airports. My mom’s return date was for May 3/2020, because of her future doctor’s appointment at Princess Margaret Hospital for her checkup to make sure the past cancer treatments were okay.

The airport in Guyana closed on March 12/2020 to all international flights and there was no way out for her. I didn’t know what to do. I contacted the travel agent that my mom bought her plane ticket from, she didn’t have any answers. I heard about Felicity Fernandes through a friend. I decided to call her and explained my mom’s situation and that she needed to get out of Guyana because it might get worse. My mom’s doctors kept calling to see why she’s missing her appointments too.

Felicity gave me some hope, she took all of my mom’s information and told me to leave everything to her. She contacted the Government of Canada Canadians Abroad service in Ottawa when she couldn’t get any answer from them about any scheduled flights for the Canadians in Guyana trying to get home. She contacted the Canadian High Commission in Guyana where she got some information. And that’s when she was told West Jet was preparing to go to Guyana to bring back stranded passengers. It wasn’t that easy as there were thousands of people who were stranded there. Felicity had to explain to Canadian High Commission in Guyana and to West Jet why my mom because of health reasons needed to get out of Guyana soon.

Like Felicity said to leave everything to her, she was able to get my mom on one of the few West Jet flights from Guyana to Toronto. Felicity never charged anything for this help, her kind words and the help I am grateful for. She did everything she said she would do. I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t recommend Felicity to anyone when it comes to your travel needs. If she says to you to leave it to her just put your trust in her, she will get it done.  ~ John Budhu

For so many years, Felicity has helped me find vacation packages to Cuba (4 times), Jamaica (2 times), Dominican Republic (8 times), and Mexico. She always made an effort to advise the resorts directly regarding my room preferences and making sure my expectations were met based on my travel needs and wants when staying at different resorts. Felicity did a lot of this for me even before becoming a Travel Consultant.

I would also like to point out that in 2019 I had gone to Cuba and to my utter dismay, the hotel had some serious water problems, no running water for over 2 days.  Even though Felicity did not book this trip for me, she still took it upon herself to help us obtain a refund on the hotel portion.  It truly amazed me that she persevered for months dealing with this matter and coming to an agreeable resolution with the tour operator.  I am so delighted that from now on I will be booking all my vacations, flights and hotels through her because I know that she will always do a phenomenal job. ~Ezilda B.

Our whole family went to Punta Cana for our first family vacation in December 2019.  Unfortunately, my 82-year-old stepfather got sick and needed to be taken to the hospital.  I got in touch with Felicity, knowing her knowledge of the area and trusting her connections.  She was able to connect me with a taxi driver that came to get us, took us to the hospital and was our driver for the rest of our time there.  Knowing that Felicity had safe connections, helped relieve stress in a challenging time. The great knowledge and personal experience she has makes Felicity a great asset to the travel industry and her clients. ~ Gonzalez Family

I travel to Guyana every year to stay for a few months, but this year I was stranded there because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

My flight to come back to Toronto was in April 2020 with Caribbean Airlines, but it was cancelled with no return date given. The airline told me to call my Travel Agent to assist me with what I had to do next. It was difficult for me to get in touch with my travel agent who I had booked this flight with. After a few tries to contact her, I gave up. I took a chance and called Felicity to see if she could help me and she did.

Felicity got a hold of my Travel Agent and made arrangements to have her name added to my Caribbean Airlines booking. Felicity kept in regular contact with me to give me updates on the travel bans and airport closures for Canada, Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana. She also updated me every time she contacted Caribbean Airlines to try and get more information from them.

She sent me a checklist of all the important things I needed like medication refills, food items, health supplies, masks and hand sanitizers to have stocked in case I ended up being stranded in Guyana for a long time.

July 30, 2020 was such a happy day for me as Felicity called me to let me know that she booked a repatriated ticket for me with WestJet to return home on August 14. She sent me all the details about this flight like the baggage limits, mask and covid test requirements, food options available at the Georgetown airport and while on the plane. She also let me know about the new Toronto arrivals quarantine hotels and all the quarantine screening that I have to go through when I arrive at the Toronto airport.

I am so glad to be back home in Canada safe and sound and I owe this all to Felicity. Even though I was very anxious, I knew that she would take care of me and make sure I returned home safely. Her regular communication and updates put me at so much ease.  Thank you. ~ Bhagmatie K.

A big shout out to Felicity and her customer service skills. Felicity went above and beyond what I expected. Prior to even booking my trip she was watching for pricing ups and downs and chosen resort availability to ensure I got best price without losing a room at my chosen resort. Felicity stayed in contact and followed up with me without me having to do the follow up. Unfortunately, covid hit and my trip was cancelled. This is when Felicity really came through. She fought for me to get my money back directly with Air Transat over the phone and wrote letters. Although that did not work, I truly believe it was the letters she wrote that won my case with my credit card. I was 100% refunded within a month and did not have to settle for a credit which was what Felicity had been fighting for. Thank you, Felicity, for a positive experience and all your hard work! ~ Sherry Pearson

We initially did not consider needing any kind of wedding planner for our September 2021 wedding. But it soon became clear that the unconventional long-distance planning and our family travelling from both the USA and Canada demanded some assistance, especially since we opted out of a resort wedding. We met Felicity years ago while vacationing in Sousa, DR, and have stayed in contact ever since. My fiancée and I immediately thought, who better than Felicity to help plan our wedding in the Dominican Republic!

From the get-go, Felicity took the lead. She gave us answers to the many unanswered questions we had. She went through every detail imaginable with options to choose from, including items that we did not consider or even think about when we first started planning our wedding. Details like local cost-effective transportation options for our guests arriving on different days/times, our elder guest’s potential mobility limitations at the apartment rental, ceremony, reception locations we were considering. There were so many important details that slipped our minds that Felicity walked us through and provided insight.

Soon after our first meeting, we received our restaurants of interest’s wedding packages and were sent links to her recommended local florists, bakeries, musicians, hair salons and photographers so we could take a look at their work. She even sent video clips of a local Haitian musician that could perform the music at the ceremony. Felicity curated an apartment information template to give our guests. It contained all the information they would need to know about the local airport, things to do in the area, apartment amenities, restaurants within walking distance, and so much more – it was unbelievable!

Our beginning stages of planning were going so smoothly, then the pandemic hit. So many thoughts were racing through our minds. Although Canada’s case numbers were low at the time, Felicity updated us regularly with the case numbers in Puerto Plata and even for Montreal, Boston and Miami, where a lot of our family would be travelling from. She stayed in constant contact and was a great sounding board when we expressed our fears and concerns. She walked us through our options, including some potential worst-case scenarios because of the Canadian, USA and Dominican Republic government’s often-changing travel restrictions, curfews, lockdowns and border closures. After many conversations, late night chats (thank you, Felicity!) and some tears, we decided to postpone our wedding.

Felicity immediately worked with the restaurant and apartment rental owners to re-negotiate and secure potential alternative dates based on the Canadian and US governments’ current vaccination rollout plan. She then continued with our wedding planning as if there was no pandemic. Felicity secured quotes with guaranteed pricing for our rehearsal and farewell dinners, private airport transportation fares and the photography & videography packages. But for now, we have to sit tight and wait patiently with hopes that we may finally be getting married in the beautiful Dominican Republic in February 2022!

Felicity, all we can say is thank you for all that you have done for us so far! We are very grateful to have you by our side as you exude so much optimism and hope during a time that we needed it the most. My fiancée and I are not only excited that you are our wedding planner but that you will also be a treasured guest on our special day. ~ Hugs, Liz & Yves

Our daughter had a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic a few years ago with over 50 guests that had attended. We used a local travel agency and then worked directly with the resort’s wedding planner.

Felicity was not a destination wedding planner at that time, but she gave us a lot of guidance and advice on what to do and say to the travel agent and resort wedding planner.

Her vast knowledge in this area helped secure many perks that we didn’t even know we could get. Felicity would always say to me, “Susan, you will never know unless you ask!” and man, she was right.

Because of Felicity’s guidance, we got private airport transfers for our entire group in Punta Cana. Including a giant cooler filled with beers, soft drinks and water for the ride. My daughter received a few airport lounges passes to use at the Toronto airport. And the upgraded reception perks on the day of our daughter’s wedding were beautiful. We also saved so much money on a group excursion we had paid for because Felicity got me in communication with a local excursion company contact, she had in Punta Cana.

Thank you for all of your help Felicity during our daughter’s wedding. We wish you all the success in your new business. We know that you will do extremely well! – Susan, Benny & Family
